Early morning traffic in The Woodlands was disrupted by a significant motor vehicle collision this Monday. The incident, involving two cars, resulted in three people sustaining injuries, one of whom was trapped and had to be extracted from the wreckage by firefighters.
The incident occurred just before the clock struck 7 a.m. at the bustling intersection of Research Forest Drive and Cochran's Crossing Drive. The Woodlands Fire Department quickly responded to the emergency call, which was heightened to an entrapment situation as information came in. According to a post on The Woodlands Fire Department's Facebook page, "Battalion 102 was first on scene and reported a two vehicle collision with one person entrapped." Firefighters deftly utilized rescue tools to remove the passenger door and free the individual, who was then transported in critical condition to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Photographs shared by TWFD show a BMW coupe with substantial damage to its passenger side, indicating where the trapped victim was located. The other vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz SUV, was pictured with heavy front-end damage. While firefighters focused on rescuing the entrapped person, two others involved were also taken to a hospital for treatment, as detailed in a report by KHOU. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it has not been made clear if any charges will be filed. Both the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are meticulously working to unravel the specifics of the crash. Commuters were advised to steer clear of the area as the scene was being cleared and the investigation continued throughout the morning hours.
