
Three individuals are now facing the music with the Placer County Sheriff's Office after being nabbed for a brazen copper wire theft in West Roseville. The suspects were arrested last Sunday, following a tip from community members who detected shady activities at a new development area off Bluebell Lane and Royal Lily Avenue. According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office, the calls pointed to the use of power tools and the presence of a white BMW nearby, all while the wire cutting likely took place.
The deputies, having been alerted to the site, managed to locate a vehicle which matched the community's description. Parked on Baseline Road, roughly three miles from the heisted location, the vehicle prompted a timely traffic stop. Arrested at the scene were Carissa Avila, 36, Martin Barron Acosta, 44, and Rigoberto Velasquez, 32. As they were rummaging through found brass valves, copper pipes, and the tools which were thought to have been used to commit the theft, deputies uncovered them all during a vehicle search.
"Thanks to quick reporting from the community and the attentive work of our deputies, these suspects were quickly caught," was how the Sheriff's Office voiced their appreciate in a social media statement. All three suspects met their fate at the South Placer Jail, where they were booked on theft related charges.
