San Antonio’s South Side is getting a new morning habit this weekend as La Concheria, a compact food trailer devoted entirely to conchas, pulls up for its debut service. The mini truck will be parked across from Mission San Jose at Sip & Sit With Me for an 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. breakfast run on Saturday, serving warm pan dulce baked right on board. Owner Cristina Chio spun the concept out of a pandemic-era home project and is now taking her concha-centric menu straight to neighborhood streets, as reported by Axios.
What It’s Selling
La Concheria’s lineup leans into both classic and playful concha flavors, with options like mazapán, Oreo, churro and Biscoff. Mini conchas start at $2, with larger sizes and boxed assortments available for events. According to La Concheria, the business sells assorted dozen boxes featuring six flavors and offers catering for celebrations. The site bills the operation as a "gourmet" concha outfit that evolved from a home kitchen into a food-truck and catering business.
Opening Day Plans
Ahead of launch, Chio told Axios that every concha will be baked in the truck and that the first service will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday. "The fact that we were able to grow this business without a storefront, I think that speaks for itself," she said to Axios, noting that the truck is the latest chapter in a passion project that started during the pandemic.
Where To Find The Truck
Sip & Sit With Me is a small South Side coffee house located at 3244 Mission Rd, across from the historic Mission San Jose complex on the World Heritage Trail. The spot gives La Concheria a front-row seat to both local regulars and visitors headed to the mission. Organizers say the trailer will continue to pop up around the neighborhood, with schedule updates shared online. The UTSA Small Business Development Center profiles Sip & Sit With Me as a neighborly cafe that opened in late 2023 and has already worked its way into the area’s morning routine.
Part Of A Bigger Pan Dulce Scene
La Concheria’s arrival plugs into San Antonio’s long-running love for pan dulce and a newer wave of bakeries turning conchas into everything from comfort food to social-media-ready treats. Coverage of local bakery expansions and anniversaries shows both legacy panaderías and newer artisan spots keeping conchas front and center, as reported by MySA.
Follow The Truck
Chio says future stops for the trailer will be shared on Instagram, and La Concheria lists an upcoming food-truck schedule for more pop-ups. For now, the surest way to snag a freshly baked concha is to catch the debut run this Saturday at Sip & Sit With Me, then keep an eye on the bakery’s social feeds for where it rolls next.
