Community engagement took a festive turn in Tukwila as local law enforcement officers teamed up with students for the annual Shop With a Cop event. The Tukwila Police Department spent the day shopping alongside local children, helping them buy gifts for themselves and their families. The holiday tradition highlights the department’s commitment to outreach, fostering trust and strengthening relationships within the community.
Every level of the police department was present for the occasion, touching on a show of unity among those who protect and serve – from the newest recruits to the highest-ranking officials. According to the social media post by the Tukwila Police Department, which expressed a deep sense of gratitude, noted the event as their "favorite one that we do every year," and acknowledged the support from local sponsors who helped make it possible.
Collaboration extended beyond the police, with Puget Sound Fire also joining in to assist during the event. "Thank you to Target, JCPenney, Westfield Southcenter, Acura of Seattle, Shake Shack and Starline Charter for providing donations, food and transportation for this event," the Tukwila Police Department stated.
