
Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood was rocked by violence Sunday morning, resulting in two individuals being shot after an altercation. According to CBS Philadelphia, the incident, which occurred near the intersection of East Lehigh Avenue and 5th Street close to a gas station, took place just after 11 a.m. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as officers secured the area, leaving the crime scene active for investigation.
During the fight, witnessed in the midst of a Speedway parking lot, a man is reported to have produced a firearm and opened fire, striking the male victim in the head and the female victim in the leg. Climbing to critical condition, the man was rushed to the hospital, while the woman was listed as stable, NBC10 Philadelphia learned from Lt. Marc Metellus of the Philadelphia Police.
Following the shooting incident, both wounded individuals sought aid at Episcopal Hospital. As of yet, the Philadelphia Police have not disclosed the full extent of their injuries, nor have they provided suspect descriptions or articulated a potential motive, which FOX 29 News reported in their coverage. Authorities are also searching for any surveillance footage that may shed light on the episode.
No arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting, and no weapons were found at the scene, although some cars believed to be related to the incident were abandoned there.
