
Monroe County authorities are piecing together details after an early morning assault on Tuesday, involving three suspects, resulted in injuries to two individuals in Frenchtown Township, 13ABC reported. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared that at around 4:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of Sunset Boulevard, two victims—a man and a woman—were attacked inside a garage after letting in two attackers who were reportedly known to them. The pair was pistol-whipped, while a third accomplice stole property, though what was taken remains undetermined.
According to the Monroe County Reporters' social media post, officers were dispatched following reports of the incident which was quickly complicated by a gunshot fired into the concrete floor by one of the suspects before they all fled in an unknown vehicle, while deputies Zachary Marzouq and Brent Thomas were the first to arrive on the scene, finding the injured parties and providing medical care at the scene with the woman later transported to ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital for further treatment.
The incident doesn't appear random, as all suspects involved were said to be known to the victims by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, emphasized by "Preliminary information indicates this incident does not appear to be a random act of violence," as disclosed in a statement acquired by CBS News Detroit. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau is actively investigating the case, compiling evidence, witness statements, and calling for community assistance to apprehend the suspects.
