Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last month in Marin City, as shared by the Marin County Sheriff's Office in a recent social media post. On November 16, deputies responded to a call on the 600 block of Drake Ave., where they encountered two adult victims and one juvenile who reported being held at gunpoint.
According to the victims, they had arranged over social media to sell clothing items, but were instead faced with a dangerous encounter. They were met by two male suspects who not only robbed them but also fired a weapon into the air to ensure their compliance forcibly. In an effort to quickly apprehend the suspects, Sheriff's Office detectives worked to piece together the events and successfully identify the juveniles responsible for the crime. Yesterday, both suspects were taken into custody, and search warrants led to the recovery of the suspected stolen goods and a firearm in Marin City and San Rafael. The names of the suspects have not been disclosed, as they are minors.
As announced on the Marin County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the incident has highlighted the rise of "Reselling" social media accounts and the dangers associated with this trend. The Sheriff’s Office has advised the public to proceed with caution when engaging in such transactions. Detectives are currently working to determine whether the seized firearm was used during the robbery.
