Two teenagers were hospitalized following a shooting at a late-night house party in south Houston. The incident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. yesterday in a parking lot near Blodgett Street and Delano Street. According to Click2Houston, one victim is in critical condition after being shot in the stomach, while the other suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and approached officers for help at the scene.
Details gathered by the Houston Police Department reveal the event started at an Airbnb property before escalating across the street. "“That altercation moved over to a parking lot across the street from the Airbnb, and that’s where the shooting happened," said HPD Lt. Ali in a statement obtained by Click2Houston. As investigators work swiftly to gather evidence and interview witnesses, efforts to identify the shooter have so far proved unsuccessful. "Right now, we don’t know who the shooter is. The people who were at the party say they did not see him," explained Lt. Ali.
The Greater Third Ward area is on alert as the police continue their investigation into the shooting that unfolded after a dispute during a party attended by around 40 juveniles. KHOU reports that a 17-year-old boy was among the injured, having sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and a second male victim was shot in the foot.
A fight between two women appears to have been the initial spark that led to the violence, as revealed by HPD. "At this point, we have no idea who the shooter is," Lt. Ali told KHOU. "The people that were present at the party have not seen him. They do not know if he was from the party." HPD is currently working to gather any surveillance video from the area in hopes of moving the investigation forward.
