The Pullen Arts Center is offering a variety of classes and programs for artists and hobbyists, according to city officials. For those looking to dabble in clay or conjure up a DIY Valentine, the center’s roster this season is as eclectic as it is engaging. “Family Pottery - Clay with Me! Book Series,” for instance, promises quality time for the young ones, reading and crafting with clay, while “Youth Pottery - Hot Cocoa Mug” lets kids create their own winter mugs. Both activities are directed by instructors Kim Lomax and Sue Chegari, respectively, as mentioned on the City of Raleigh's official website.
The Pullen Arts Center is offering a “Teen Mixed Media – Valentine’s Day Magic: Marbled Cards” workshop for teens ahead of Valentine’s Day. Registration is available through the center’s website for teens and accompanying parents or guardians.
The Center is also offering adult classes for both beginners and more experienced participants. Options include “Pottery – Coil Curious,” an introductory coil-building course, and “Beginning Acrylics,” taught by Joanna Moody, which covers foundational techniques and qualifies participants for a painting studio membership. Also offering additional classes in traditional crafts, printmaking, and fiber arts, according to its announcement on city's official website. Upcoming options include “Traditional Craft: Appalachian Turkey Wing Broom,” which focuses on handmade broom making, and Keith Norval’s “Tie-Dye and Screen Print Extravaganza,” covering fabric dyeing and design. Officials said the classes are open to participants of all skill levels and do not require prior experience.
