Honolulu is expecting unsettled weather as a front brings light to moderate rain from late Wednesday into Thursday night, mainly affecting Niihau, Kauai, and areas near Maui. “Winds will be fairly light, allowing for additional days of sea- and land-breezes,” which may lead to isolated showers, according to the National Weather Service.
Another front may arrive over the weekend with the potential for heavier rainfall, though forecasters are still assessing how strong it will be. With light and shifting winds in the meantime, residents should stay alert if they have outdoor plans, as reported by the National Weather Service.
A ridge of high pressure north of Hawaii is moving out as fronts arrive, shifting winds from east to south and southwest, then briefly to moderate northerlies on Wednesday before easing over Maui County. Surf on north and west shores will stay near average with overlapping northwest swells, and "Forerunners of the second, slightly bigger swell will arrive tonight and peak Wednesday." East shore surf will decrease over the next few days, south shores will see only a small pulse, and fire conditions remain below critical levels, as stated by the National Weather Service.
