The Department of Public Works, in collaboration with GEOLABS, has announced lane closures on Kauai from January 5, 2026 to January 9, 2026. The closures will affect Haleko Road, from Rice Street to Nāwiliwili Road, and Pua Loke Street, between Haleko Road and Puaiki Street. Work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, and will involve geotechnical subsurface exploration and improvements.
Flaggers will be on site to guide vehicles through the work zones. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, consider alternate routes, or allow extra travel time during these closures. According to Kauai County, the work is part of ongoing efforts to improve Haleko Road’s infrastructure.
Residents and visitors are advised to be aware of the upcoming closures and adjust travel plans as needed. For more information or questions about the project, Edward Shinsato of GEOLABS can be contacted at (808) 221-3600 or via email at [email protected].
