In a recent crackdown in Valrico, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives apprehended 24-year-old Dimitrius Martinez, who was wanted on an active arrest warrant. The charges against Martinez included Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Schedule I drug, as noted on their official social media page.
While serving the arrest warrant on Tuesday, law enforcement officers conducted a search of the suspect's residence. Detectives reportedly found two firearms and a large amount of illegal narcotics, explained in the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office post.
Consequently, the suspect now faces a slew of additional charges, including Armed Trafficking in LSD ranging from 1 to 5 Grams, Armed Trafficking in Amphetamine between 28 to 200 Grams, and four counts of Armed Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell or Deliver. Detectives, while carrying out the search warrant, also charged Martinez with two counts of Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
Martinez's arrest and the subsequent search warrant execution reflect ongoing efforts to combat drug and gun-related crimes in the Hillsborough County area. Those charged with trafficking, a significant blow struck against local illegal drug distribution networks, involved also face serious implications due to the firearms discovered, potentially elevating the legal consequences they might endure.
