Police in Vancouver, Washington, were called to a disturbance just before the stroke of midnight last Saturday, to the 13200 block of NE 46th St, where they were faced with a man armed with a gun. KOMO News reports that the suspect had allegedly pointed the weapon at a woman inside a home and fired a round before police arrived on the scene. The confrontation escalated when the man brandished the gun at the officers, resulting in two officers discharging their weapons and fatally wounding him. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The identity of the man has not been disclosed as the case unfolds and is investigated by the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations, as reported by OPB. Additionally, according to the same source, the three officers involved - two shooters and one witness - have been put on critical incident leave, as is typically done in such situations.
