In Casselberry, a violent encounter disrupted what was supposed to be a straightforward transaction yesterday. Two individuals, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old teen, entered into what they believed would be a regular sale of vape pens, as reported by ClickOrlando. However, at approximately 8:20 p.m. near Howell Branch Road and Lake Ann Lane, their plans were met with gunfire. According to the police, the culprits began firing at the victims' vehicle following a meeting with the individuals for the sale.
Having been attacked, the victims attempted to flee the scene but subsequently crashed their vehicle. While the shooters managed to escape on foot, the 19-year-old victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and left arm, necessitating hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, as stated by WFTV. The younger victim, at 17, walked away with minor injuries, which were attended to by the Seminole County Fire Department.
Investigators have found evidence at the crime scene, such as shell casings on the victims' vehicle and vape pens alongside an unfired round, pointing to a violent encounter. It appears to be an event where the assailant produced a firearm and began firing rounds into their vehicle, the victims recounted to police. With this array of proof, detectives are piecing together the details of the incident.
The Casselberry Police Department has since announced that they consider this event isolated, involving individuals who may already know each other. Noting that there is no ongoing threat to the public, they have urged anyone with information to come forward. The public can reach out to Detective Carr through email at [email protected] to aid in the investigation, as per the initial information released by the department.
