A Clark County School District bus slammed into another vehicle near the U.S. 95/Interstate 11 and Martin Luther King Boulevard interchange in central Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon, all caught on a live traffic camera. Nevada State Police told Channel 13 that there were no students on board and no injuries or medical transports reported.
Crash Caught On Camera, Then Both Vehicles Roll Out
Traffic camera footage from the intersection shows the school bus and at least one other vehicle involved in the collision. By about 3:08 p.m., both vehicles had driven away and traffic was flowing normally again, after a brief partial blockage of the northbound lanes of M.L.K. Boulevard at the I-11/US-95 interchange, as reported by KTNV.
RTC Camera Network Spots Trouble In Real Time
The crash was picked up by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's FAST camera network, which manages more than a thousand traffic cameras and provides live feeds to monitor incidents, according to the commission's traffic-cams page on RTCSNV. Those live shots are often how traffic reporters and first responders first learn about crashes and lane restrictions across the valley.
KTNV later updated its coverage after Nevada State Police confirmed again that the CCSD bus had no students on board and that no injuries or medical transports had been reported, the station said in an update on KTNV. Channel 13 also noted that it had reached out to the Clark County School District and local authorities for more details on the collision.
Headed Through The I-11 / US-95 Stretch? Check Before You Go
Drivers planning to use the I-11/US-95 corridor are encouraged to check the RTC's live camera feeds and traffic alerts before getting on the road, as suggested on RTCSNV. This story will be updated if the school district or law enforcement release additional information about what led up to the crash.
The incident is the latest in a series of relatively minor school bus crashes in the Las Vegas valley that have produced few or no injuries. A November collision at Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way also resulted in no injuries, according to reporting on a separate crash at Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way. Even when the damage is limited and no one is hurt, authorities typically document and investigate school bus collisions to sort out what happened.
