Waimea families will compete at the Parker Ranch Center food court on Wednesday. The Hawai‘i Police Department’s South Kohala Community Policing Section, with Parker Ranch Center and Starbucks, will host the “South Kohala Sugar Showdown” gingerbread contest. The event runs 4:30–6:30 p.m. tomorrow, according to the Hawai‘i Police Department.
Officials say the event invites keiki to build gingerbread houses under parental supervision. There are 40 spots available, filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrations are open at Waimea Police Station, and organizers encourage early sign-ups.
This free community event allows families to come together. South Kohala Community Policing Section officers aim to provide a safe space for creativity. Supplies will be provided for building gingerbread houses.
Community Police Officer Justin Cabanting can be reached at (808) 887-3080 or [email protected] for more details. The “South Kohala Sugar Showdown” aims to build trust between police and the community.
