This past weekend in Waipahu, a community holiday event at the local Walmart brought together the public and civil servants. Honolulu Police District 3 hosted the event, with support from HPD officers, Walmart, and Weed & Seed Hawai'i, according to the Honolulu Police Department social media.
Walmart provided refreshments and snacks, with help from the local Lions Club. Representatives from the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Hawai'i Department of Law Enforcement, and federal agencies like the FBI interacted with attendees, giving children and families a chance to engage with community and public safety officials.
A highlight came when Officer Micah Medeiros bonded with a local 6th-grade student over video games. In a generous gesture, he purchased a PS5 Fortnite Edition and an extra controller in the student’s brother’s favorite color, allowing the siblings to enjoy gaming together, according to the police department.
The event celebrated the holiday spirit, creating joyful moments for the keiki and fostering community connections. “The holidays are brighter when we come together to create meaningful moments for our keiki,” the Honolulu Police Department said.
