Wake County Animal Center is helping pets find homes this month. The “Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign has reduced fees to $25 for dogs and $5 for cats and kittens, according to the county's release.

The campaign highlights that pets need a warm home, love, and a family. Animated holiday postcards featuring real adoptable pets will be shared on social media, showing pets enjoying seasonal activities in their imagined future homes. The campaign provides information about adoption while helping pets find permanent homes.

The center is combining the look of vintage holiday postcards with the goal of pet adoption. Throughout this month, Wake County Animal Center will share stories of dogs and cats alongside animated postcards on social media. Jennifer Federico, director of the Animal Center, said sharing a postcard can help a pet on its journey to a permanent home. Each postcard shows a hopeful scene of what life could be like in a new home.

The adoption gallery is open to anyone looking to bring home a pet. The shelter, located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, is open from noon to 6 p.m. every day. The campaign encourages the community to include a new companion in their holiday celebrations. Currently, 90 dogs, one rabbit, and many cats and kittens, along with foster pets, are available for adoption. More information, including the animals’ photos and the adoption schedule, can be found on the Wake County Animal Center website.
