City officials announced a temporary road closure on Lincoln Drive for necessary maintenance work set for this past weekend. The closure, affecting the stretch between Ridge Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue, took place on Saturday, December 5, 2025, from the early hours of 7 a.m. until the afternoon at 3 p.m., according to the city's announcement.
With the weekend timing selected for its minimal traffic disruptions, the maintenance was aimed at a variety of infrastructure improvements. The activities, directed at streetlights, drainage inlets, delineators, along with street cleaning, demanded full access to roadways free from bustling weekday traffic.
The Streets Department's statement detailed that the temporary closure would "allow City crews to safely complete repairs to delineators, drainage inlets, streetlights, and other infrastructure" and that the focus on weekend hours was to "expedite repairs, minimize disruption to motorists, and provide a safe work environment."
During the time of repairs, the Streets Department requested cooperation from the public. Their ask was simple: for travelers to keep the work zones safe by slowing down and paying closer attention, especially those nearby, and for all to adhere to the provided detours and directions.
