Drivers in Philadelphia should be prepared for some delays this weekend as maintenance work will require a partial closure of Lincoln Drive. The northbound lanes between Ridge Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue will be shut down on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of Philadelphia Streets Department has confirmed. However, the southbound lanes will remain open to help facilitate the flow of traffic during the work period.
According to the official announcement, the temporary closure is necessary for crews to carry out streetlight repairs, which can only be performed safely with reduced traffic. The maintenance is strategically scheduled for the weekend to both streamline the repair process and minimize the inconveniences typically associated with road work on the busy thoroughfare.
Philadelphia officials are asking for the public’s cooperation during this time. "The Streets Department asks everyone to help keep work zones safe by slowing down, paying closer attention, and following all detours and directions when traveling near roadwork," the announcement states. Commuters who frequent this route should account for some additional travel time and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid getting caught in potential traffic jams.
