In a recent collaboration reflecting the ever-growing integration of technology in law enforcement, the West Chester Borough Police Department (WCPD) assisted a neighboring agency in locating a missing elderly individual. Utilizing their cross-trained officer and an advanced drone equipped with both thermal imaging and spotlight capabilities, the team was able to successfully find the person who had become lost in a wooded area.
The WCPD shared the account of the search and rescue on their social media, stating, "With the drone, we located the elderly person in a wooded area, and our officer was able to direct officers on the ground to the person’s location."
Thanks to the adept handling of the drone by the WCPD officer, the at-risk individual was located and promptly received the necessary medical attention. WCPD expressed pride in its use of technology and training, which combine to "help build safer and stronger communities." They emphasized through their Facebook post, "At WCPD we are proud to say that this is an example of us leveraging technology with training to deliver high quality service to our community."
