A Christmas morning fire in Westminster has left four adults homeless and resulted in $250,000 in damage. The blaze began on the rear porch of a two-story, single-family house at 683 Sunflower Court and was reported to be accidental, sparked by discarded smoking material, as per the Maryland State Fire Marshal's account.
The incident was first noticed by a neighbor before dawn, around 3 a.m., and quickly combated by 50 firefighters from both the Westminster Fire Department and Carroll County Fire/EMS. According to Fox Baltimore, the teams brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of their arrival at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, possibly thanks to the home's smoke alarms, which had been activated after the fire's ignition.
The affected individuals won't be left to fend for themselves amidst this holiday season catastrophe. The Red Cross has stepped in to offer assistance to the four displaced by the fire, as reported by WMAR2-News.
