One of Us, a new women's sports bar concept, has locked in a North Park address at 3085 University Avenue, taking over the longtime URBN Coal Fired Pizza space and promising to put women's games front and center. The founders say the venue will be family-friendly, offer a full bar and show men's games only when they do not bump up against women's competitions.
According to What Now, a recent liquor-license filing signaled a change of tenant at URBN's North Park location, paving the way for One of Us to move in. Local blog SanDiegoVille first reported that URBN would shut down after roughly 15 years in the space. Exact design and menu plans have not been released, but local reporting points to a 2026 buildout.
Founders and community roots
Co-owners Patricia Sebold and Kalani Millsaps developed One of Us over roughly a year of pop-ups and watch parties to test demand and refine the concept, with the schedule documented on the One of Us site. KGTV/10News reported that regular watch parties at North Park spots such as 619 Spirits and Kairoa showed there was a ready local audience for a permanent home.
Funding and timeline
The owners have launched a Givebutter campaign to help cover buildout, kitchen equipment, AV and decor. What Now reported that contribution tiers range from $25 for limited-edition shirts up to a $20,000 VIP package that includes a two-year liquor locker. Organizers say they are targeting a 2026 opening while permitting and fundraising continue.
Why North Park?
North Park's dense restaurant-and-bar scene, plus the neighborhood's appetite for owner-driven, community-minded concepts, makes it a logical landing spot for a niche sports venue, according to San Diego Magazine. The URBN North Park site notes that the pizzeria has anchored the block at 3085 University Avenue for years, setting the stage for another community-focused concept to step in.
Design, menu and staffing details are expected as buildout plans take shape; in the meantime, the founders say pop-up watch parties will keep rolling around town while they finish raising funds. For local fans, it is a tangible step toward a dedicated space where women's sports are prioritized, loud and proud.
