
Early Saturday morning on San Antonio's Northeast Side, an incident left one driver deceased and another recovering from injuries following a wrong-way collision. The accident happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 17000 block of Wurzbach Parkway, where a vehicle was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction, KSAT reported.
The San Antonio Police Department indicated that as officers were en route, the erratic driver collided with a second driver's vehicle. The man responsible for the wrong-way travel was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office as 26-year-old Jesus Apolinar-Slorencio. To quickly tend to the emergency, the collision's other participant, a 29-year-old man driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze, was hospitalized to treat what were described as non-life-threatening injuries, according to information obtained by KENS 5.
As of now, additional details surrounding the cause of the wrong-way driving have not been made available. Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to the tragic event that unfolded on Wurzbach Parkway.
The investigation is still active, and authorities have advised that the information they have provided could be subject to change as new evidence comes forward.
