A man was shot multiple times inside a Bronx building on New Year’s Day, the NYPD reported. The incident occurred in the evening at a business located at 693 East 236 Street where the 24-year-old victim received gunshot wounds to the chest and thigh. According to PIX11, he was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Police responded to a 911 call around 6:30 p.m., at which time they discovered the shooting victim. Video footage from the scene showed multiple officers at a bodega, cordoned off by crime scene tape, as per a video posted to Citizen and reported by PIX11. However, the motive and circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, with no arrests having been made, as of Thursday evening.
Adding to the details, News 12 The Bronx reported that the shooting resulted from a fight inside a Wakefield deli. The man shot in the chest and leg was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.
