
A tragic industrial accident claimed the life of 26-year-old Daniel Evans last Saturday in Greenville, Michigan; according to CBS News Detroit, the incident occurred at Greenville Steel located at 6632 SW Greenville Road. Michigan State Police reported Evans and another individual were engaged in delivering a scrapped forklift on behalf of a local company when the accident took place.
After the forklift was unloaded, Evans was caught between the flatbed and the cab of the truck as the flatbed was being maneuvered back into its original position, a maneuver that was met with unexpected resistance, and he tragically was found on the ground having sustained fatal injuries, he died at the scene and while investigators from both the Michigan State Police and Michigan's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) have been looking into the circumstances of the fatal event, details about what led to the incident have not been fully disclosed however the investigation remains ongoing, as reported by MLive.
The WZZM 13 coverage of the event specified that the flatbed truck was owned by J&A Towing, a company based in Belding, which is not affiliated with Greenville Steel, clarifying the steel company's detachment from the unloading process of the forklift. MIOSHA worked alongside state troopers to conduct the preliminary investigation on site and announced the effort in response to the workplace fatality.
