Residents of Aiea were faced with a disruption over the weekend as a 12-inch water main break occurred near 98-250 Kaonohi Street, leading to a loss of water or weakened water pressure for many, particularly those living in nearby condos and townhouses between Moanalua Road and Uao Place; the Board of Water Supply (BWS) has been actively addressing the issue, according to KITV.
The break, situated just above Moanalua Road by the Pearlridge Center, compelled the closure of the far right, makai-bound turn lane at the intersection of Kaonohi Street and Moanalua Road, causing delays for drivers who were advised to seek alternative routes if possible to avoid the area, with the BWS not providing a concrete timeline on when the repairs were expected to be completed, as noted by Hawaii News Now.
To alleviate the inconvenience for those affected, the BWS has set up a water wagon at 98-099 Uao Place, fronting the Lele Pono sign, encouraging residents to bring their own containers for filling, per the announcement given by BWS and shared by KITV. Updates on the repair progress and traffic are being shared on the BWS Twitter account.
