Her ascent, which will become effective from January 16, 2026, will see her at the helm of the prison's business office, overseeing critical operations such as property/supply and food service departments.
With a career trajectory that speaks to her dedication, Johnson's rise through the ranks has been steady since her 2007 entry point as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison. Working her way to Accounting Technician III at Appling Integrated Treatment Facility before her latest promotion, she brings a depth of institutional familiarity to her new role. Commissioner Tyrone Oliver was quoted on the GDC's official website, expressing confidence in Johnson's abilities: "Aiyesha has gained a wealth of correctional knowledge while working her way up through the ranks as part of the GDC team," and optimistic about her future, "We are confident that she will continue to lead with integrity as she takes on her new role managing the business operations at Ware SP."
In accordance with her new responsibilities, Johnson will be tasked with managing aspects integral to the functionality of Ware State Prison. Her administrative prowess is buttressed by a comprehensive educational background that includes an associate degree in business healthcare technology from Coastal Pines Technical College and a variety of departmental trainings that cater to her expertise in governmental accounting and supervision.
