The Georgia Department of Corrections is gearing up for some new leadership in the North Region, and Allen Dills, the current Warden at Metro Reentry Facility, is stepping up to the plate. Come January 16, Dills will be taking on the role of Assistant Director for the North Region, bringing with him over two decades of experience within the department. According to an announcement by Commissioner Tyrone Oliver released by the GDC, Dills' history of strong leadership is expected to shine as he oversees the daily operations of 15 state facilities.
Starting out back in 2002 as an Accountant Paraprofessional at Lee Arrendale State Prison, Dills climbed the ranks, taking on the role of Personnel Manager in 2009 before moving to Deputy Warden of Administration at Phillips SP in 2012. He was promoted to Regional Business Manager four years later and eventually advanced to the position of Warden at multiple facilities, with each promotion marked by a display of commitment and readiness to take on greater challenges. His pattern of promotion clearly illustrates GDC’s confidence in his abilities, and as Commissioner Oliver emphasized, Dills’ extensive knowledge gained throughout his journey is poised to prove invaluable as he continues to uphold the GDC mission in this new chapter of his career.
An education that began at Gainesville State College and extended to North Georgia University, Dills has a solid academic foundation that's been complemented by a slew of departmental trainings ranging from the basics to more advanced programs, including the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University and the Wardens Exchange Program with Prison Fellowship. Dills' resume is not just a testament to his dedication to the field, but also to GDC’s commitment to professional development.
