A late-night drive in Anaheim turned deadly early Sunday when a 24-year-old pregnant woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision, authorities said. The woman, riding in the front passenger seat of a white Toyota Camry, was pronounced dead at the scene, while other drivers were taken to local hospitals. Family members later identified her as 24-year-old Bianca Esquivel. Police said the driver of a gray Lexus was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Crash details
According to CBS News Los Angeles, the collision happened around 12:09 a.m. when a gray Lexus entered the intersection of North Anaheim Boulevard and the eastbound 91 Freeway frontage road against a solid red light. The Lexus struck a southbound Toyota Camry, killing the car’s front passenger at the scene. Family members later told CBS News Los Angeles they identified her as Bianca Esquivel.
Arrest and charges
Anaheim police arrested the man driving the Lexus on suspicion of DUI, and he was later booked on an additional vehicular homicide charge, as reported by Yahoo News. Authorities said the driver of the Camry and two passengers from the Lexus were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
