Apopka Man Accused of Setting Fire to Shed With Himself Inside, Arrested After Domestic Dispute

An overnight dispute in Apopka led to the arrest of a man after he allegedly set a shed ablaze while inside, and later attempted to flee, according to local authorities. The Apopka Police Department was summoned to a residence following a report of domestic conflict involving threats to a woman's life.

Richard Snow, 43, is the accused individual who, as per an official statement from the Apopka Police Department shared on social media, allegedly pushed a woman and threatened to end her life if she dared reach out to the police. After the police's arrival, despite multiple commands to come out, Snow reportedly ignited the shed, which had been repurposed as a living space, and was sharing with a roommate.

The fire escalated quickly, compelling Snow to escape through a window as the structure was fully engulfed. Fox 35 Orlando reports that he was apprehended by officers shortly after attempting to run from the scene and was taken into custody without further complications.

The local community felt the incident's repercussions, as the fire's intensity necessitated the temporary evacuation of surrounding residents. Fortunately, according to authorities, no serious injuries resulted from the event. Snow now faces multiple charges, including first-degree arson, battery on law enforcement, and tampering with a witness/victim, among others.
