A fatal shooting incident, stemming from an argument over a seemingly mundane issue, has rocked a local Fort Worth community. According to a social media post from the Fort Worth Police Department, a disagreement between friends about sharing an order of fries quickly escalated, resulting in a man being shot in the head.
On Wednesday, West Division officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 9500 block of Jeremiah Dr. around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the adult male victim and attempted to render CPR before emergency medical services took over. Despite being transported to a local hospital, the victim was unable to survive the injury and was pronounced deceased hours later. The alleged shooter, identified as residing in the same apartment complex, had already fled the scene, and efforts to locate him in the immediate vicinity were unsuccessful.
Investigations conducted by detectives with the Gun Violence Unit revealed that the victim and suspect knew each other and that the argument had led to the tragic outcome. The Fort Worth Police Department stated that this was an "isolated event," assuring the public that there was no ongoing threat. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has been tasked with positively identifying the deceased and determining the official cause and manner of death.
Authorities are actively seeking to speak with the suspect, who remains at large. The Fort Worth Police Department encourages anyone with information to assist the investigation by contacting them directly or through Tarrant County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be made anonymously and may provide crucial assistance in understanding the circumstances that led to the fatal turn, over something as trivial as French fries, into a deadly confrontation.
