A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 4 p.m., with only about a 20% chance of rain across Dallas. Any storm that develops could produce a sudden, powerful wind gust, but widespread rain is not expected.

The heat intensifies slightly next Wednesday and Thursday, when highs could reach 102°F, followed by another hot Friday near 101°F. Overnight temperatures will hover around 79°F to 80°F, so air-conditioning units may not get much of a break.
