Lamar Blvd. #B148. According to a press release by the APD, a report was made regarding a shooting that had taken place during a party, leaving an 18-year-old Black male named Isaiah Atkinson dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Despite the swift response of law enforcement arriving by 1:28 a.m., Mr. Atkinson's fate was sealed, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene just 17 minutes later, marking this senseless act of violence as Austin's first homicide of 2026. The area, a business complex that doubles as an event center, became a grim tableau as Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were dispatched, turning the space where celebration had turned to chaos into a sprawling evidence ground. A disturbance during the party had escalated, and in the tumult, Atkinson was fatally shot.
With the perpetrator still unaccounted for and dangerous, the Austin Police Department is reaching out to public resources for help. The investigators are asking anyone with information, including those with cell phone or social media videos that might cast light on the moments leading up to the shooting, to come forward—they have yet to identify the unknown suspect. Information leading to an arrest could not only help provide justice for Isaiah Atkinson but might also carry a reward of up to $1,000 through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.
