After more than a year of investigation, the Baltimore Police Department announced the arrest of 41-year-old Javon Rivers for the murder of Donte Bazemore, as reported on their official website. Rivers, a Baltimore resident, is implicated in a December 2024 shooting that took the life of 31-year-old Bazemore in the Southeast District of the city.
Rivers was apprehended on January 20, 2026, by Warrant Apprehension detectives on Harmen Avenue. The arrest was executed without incident, and Rivers was subsequently charged with First-Degree Murder. He is now being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility, according to the same Baltimore Police Department report.
The original homicide investigation began on December 18, 2024, when patrol officers arrived at the 2600 block of East Chase Street, drawn by calls reporting gunfire. There, they found Bazemore, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.
