Bay View is about to get a fresh cut and a caffeine fix in the same stop. Small Change, the salon-turned-coffee bar tucked inside the Hide House complex, will open to the public next Tuesday, with a morning-to-afternoon service window. Owners Nora Hartzell and Danielle Zingale just wrapped a soft opening over the weekend and are positioning the space as both a neighborhood salon and a grab-and-go coffee stop, with salon booths and a compact coffee counter sharing one bright, local storefront.
As reported by Urban Milwaukee, Small Change’s official debut is set for Tuesday next week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., following that preview run. The opening menu leans on Anodyne coffee and espresso and also features chai, matcha and canned options such as Olipop and sparkling Rishi Tea. Customers can tweak their drinks with alternative milks and syrups, including flavors like French lavender and maple black sesame.
A barista job post on Indeed lists the Hide House address and shows the shop is hiring for early-morning shifts as it gears up for launch. Business listings for Small Change on Vagaro describe the spot as a salon-and-coffee hybrid and note that the coffee bar will be opening soon, a sign that regular hours are still being locked in.
From Folia To A New Corner In Bay View
Hartzell and Zingale relocated from their Folia salon in Walker’s Point and began offering Small Change’s salon services last fall, then expanded the concept into a public-facing cafe, Urban Milwaukee reports. They teased the transition on social media with the line, “We’re so proud to finally share what we’ve been building.” According to the outlet, the cafe occupies about 525 square feet on the north side of Hide House and is marked by a bright red, hand-painted garage door that makes the small space hard to miss.
Pastries, Bagels And Local Roasters
The cafe’s tight food lineup will feature pastries from Greige Patisserie alongside a selection from Ruby’s Bagels, pairing a streamlined drink list with neighborhood baking partners. Greige’s website outlines its French-style pastry program and breakfast-focused hours, while Ruby’s site highlights its hand-rolled bagels and bakery locations around Milwaukee.
Small Change sits on the north side of Hide House and faces Greeley as a bright red garage-door storefront that blends a compact cafe with the flow of salon traffic. Regular hours beyond the debut have not yet been posted. The business’s Vagaro profile still lists a website as coming soon, and the Indeed listing points to staff training and early-shift availability, so more details are likely to roll out on the shop’s forthcoming site and social media channels.
