This development, according to KPRC 2, was triggered by a tip that led police and Texas EquuSearch to the scene. Large digging equipment punctured the night, disturbing the earth in yards while detectives scoured for murder, kidnapping, or evidence tampering clues, but came up empty-handed, revealing no obvious human remains, though some items were collected for laboratory analysis.
An unnerving sight unfolded at the homes per a statement by Ella Richardson-Ward, who commented on the surreal nature of the searches, her connection to one of the properties revealing a chilling closeness to the dark undercurrents swirling around this case. "It was real chilling because it’s pretty sad. I have a daughter myself, and God forbid this happened to her," she told KPRC 2. Searching with shovels and machinery, police left the Richardson-Ward property without any definitive answer to Goodwin's fate.
Goodwin's case took a harrowing turn back in April 2024 when she disappeared after being seen getting into a vehicle at a Baytown apartment complex. The search for Goodwin has been punctuated by distressing calls; her mother received a chilling demand for $600 while Goodwin's screams sounded in the background. Quan Flowers, a man currently in the Harris County Jail on separate murder charges, has been implicated in the assault and kidnapping of Goodwin, as KPRC 2 reports.
Another property's desolate conditions, belonging to the family of Richardson-Ward, stood stark under the searching gaze of authorities. The house, devoid of light and water, rarely saw visitors save for Richardson-Ward’s brother. With neighbors reporting sporadic appearances at the home over the years, Richardson-Ward herself never suspected the shadowy link to Flowers. "This is pretty alarming for all of us," Richardson said. With her home next to it, which was thoroughly probed but left undisturbed, the yard of the neighboring property was literally turned inside out, as told in an interview with KHOU.
Despite ongoing efforts, authorities have not yet determined Goodwin’s whereabouts.
