Miami Gardens Police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a professional boxer yesterday in Miami’s Design District. Gervonta “Tank” Davis, 31, faces charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident, NBC Miami reported. The arrest stems from an event on October 27 of last year, when a woman who had previously been in a relationship with Davis accused him of assault at a gentlemen’s club in Miami Gardens where she worked.
The yesterday's arrest occurred without incident, and Davis was later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Miami Gardens Police Department collaborated with federal authorities to locate and apprehend him. The department stated that it remains committed to protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and maintaining community safety. The legal issues have also impacted Davis’ career, leading him to miss a high-profile fight against Jake Paul that was scheduled for November 14, 2025 in Miami.
According to USA TODAY, the woman has also filed a civil lawsuit against Davis seeking damages for battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Her attorney, Richard Wolfe, confirmed that surveillance video he provided shows the alleged assault. The case continues to develop, with Davis facing both misdemeanor and felony charges that affect his legal situation and boxing career.
Miami Gardens Police, who had been actively searching for Davis, carried out the arrest following the issuance of a warrant. Emmanuel Jeanty, an executive officer with the department, described the case as a domestic violence incident during a January 14 press conference. Authorities have confirmed the victim’s account with surveillance video and continue to investigate the allegations. While the department has provided limited statements, additional information is expected to be released.
Davis remains in custody, and the case has drawn significant attention in the sports community. The woman involved has been closely monitoring updates on Davis’ custody status to ensure her safety. She was informed of the arrest by police and her attorney, Richard Wolfe. The Miami Gardens Police Department has not provided further comment while awaiting input from their public information officer.
