A Brooklyn man has been arraigned on multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, following an incident in which a woman was struck by a vehicle.
According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office release, the defendant, Kevin Morgan, 31, of Brooklyn, is accused of intentionally hitting a 25-year-old woman with his car on January 1, 2024, near the intersection of Wortman Avenue and Alabama Avenue. Prosecutors allege the incident occurred while the woman was in a crosswalk.
Morgan appeared before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice John Hecht and was charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on March 4.
According to investigators, surveillance footage shows a red Jeep registered to Morgan accelerating toward the victim. During a later traffic stop involving the same vehicle, authorities recovered an iPad that allegedly contained video footage of the incident. The video, recorded by a passenger, reportedly shows the vehicle striking the victim.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment following the incident.
The investigation involved the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the New York City Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
