
Cabarrus County will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 19, with a full day of events. Government offices, including the Government Center and Human Services Center, will be closed to allow residents to participate in the local festivities.
According to the Cabarrus County website, County parks will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Republic Services will maintain its regular trash and recycling schedule. Residents can enjoy outdoor activities or handle cleanup without interruption.
Kannapolis will host the traditional Dream Day Parade at 11 a.m., followed by the MLK Dream Day event at the Laureate Center. Attendees can enjoy guest speeches, live entertainment, an art contest, a minority business expo, and other informational and wellness activities.
For local governance aficionados, be aware that the January Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting will be pushed to Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.—a slight deviation from it's usual schedule. Those interested can tune in to the live broadcast via Spectrum Cable channel 22, YouTube, or the county's website.its
