Downtown Carrollton is gearing up to celebrate Texas Independence Day with its 11th annual TEXFest, a free event featuring a classic lineup of local artists, craft beer, and some lip-smackin' good food. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 7, and plan to mosey down to Historic Downtown Carrollton from 3-9 p.m. for a hootin' and hollerin' good time at 1106 S. Broadway Street.
TEXFest promises a rowdy ride on a mechanical bull for those with a daring spirit, while a live longhorn stands ready for a photo op that screams Texas pride, as shared in a recent post by the City of Carrollton website. If you fancy yourself a cowboy or cowgirl, this is your chance to test your mettle. Also, there's a photobooth to capture the memories, ensuring that every moment is instilled with the spirit of Texas.
Music will fill the air, with Brandon Rosage set to stomp the stage into motion at 3 p.m. Rosage got his start in the Pacific Northwest, and his style is a mix of Texas dance hall, swing, and rhythm and blues that is sure to get boots tapping. Bailey Rae, crooning at 5 p.m., is a red-dirt country soul with a voice shaped by legends like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard. She brings that authentic honky-tonk vibe to each performance, fresh off her appearance on NBC’s The Voice. Headliners Grupo Stampede take over at 7 p.m., offering up their Tejano hits with urban flair that pays homage to tradition, as outlined on the event page.
What's a Texas shindig without some hearty grub and a pint of craft beer? TEXFest won't let you down with an array of delectable eats and brews from local vendor 3 Nations Brewing Co. Complete with a beer garden and artisan vendors, festival-goers can also snag a custom event glass, assuming you're of legal drinking age. Feeling competitive? Join in on a TEXFest Bingo Card contest; complete five activities in a row, have the card marked by vendors, and exchange it – while supplies last – at the Carrollton information booth for your glass, daring guests to strut their stuff and sip their way through the festival.
