Charlotte County residents who frequent local parks might need to adjust their plans starting next week. According to official announcements, Charlotte County Parks and Natural Resources are set to quickly begin preparatory work for freestanding shade replacements at multiple park locations. Work is scheduled to start next Monday and is anticipated to extend through to the end of March.

Some of the affected areas include the skatepark and playground at Ann and Chuck Dever Regional Park, as well as the playground and sports fields at Carmalita Park, among others. These improvements spurring temporary closures and access limitations in these spots. Officials are directing visitors to steer clear of these areas during active work to safely accommodate construction activities.

The scheduled shade improvements target various park features including playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports courts. Notably, at South County Regional Park, work will cover four picnic areas, the soccer complex, and yellow playground shade, ensuring facilities remain comfortable and up-to-date for parkgoers. Harold Avenue Park's baseball and basketball playgrounds, the Deep Creek playground, and the tennis courts and playground at Tringali Park are also slated for a makeover.

Local government is promising to provide on-site signage and additional information as the project progresses. They have advised patrons to look out for such updates. In the meantime, residents seeking more information or who have concerns can directly reach out to Robin Schilb at [email protected] or call 941-626-0574.
