The City of Charlotte, in partnership with Smart Charlotte, is offering a series of free digital learning workshops called EmpowerTech: For Community Leaders. The program includes six sessions, each covering a different technology topic, from basic digital skills to artificial intelligence.
Running from late January through June, the workshops are open to neighborhood and community leaders. According to the City of Charlotte, participants who attend at least four sessions will receive the EmpowerTech Excellence Award, recognizing their efforts to develop digital skills and enhance leadership through technology.
Each session includes a brief presentation on key technology topics, followed by a lab period for hands-on practice. Participants can develop skills by completing practical digital tasks with guidance. While leaders are encouraged to bring their own laptops, it is not required to participate.
Dinner will be provided to attendees at the sessions. The schedule is as follows: January 27 at Hickory Grove Library, February 24 (location TBD), March 24 at Sugar Creek Library, April 28 (location TBD), May 26 at Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library, and June 23 at University City Regional Library, with each session running from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is available through an online form.
