A grim discovery was made in the 3000 block of Carol Avenue yesterday evening as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds following an assault call, authorities say. According to a press release from the CMPD, just after 7 p.m. yesterday, law enforcement responded to a report of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury. Upon arrival, the victim, found with gunshot injuries, was pronounced deceased by MEDIC at the scene.
The CMPD Homicide Unit, along with Crime Scene Search personnel, rapidly responded to the area to initiate their investigation, collecting evidence and attempting to piece together the events that led to the tragic outcome. As reported on the official CMPD website, the scene was also attended by members of CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC, in an effort to provide comprehensive responses to the crime and begin to offer support to those affected.
