A routine traffic stop on Florida's Highway 77 took a turn when a Washington County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a vehicle for committing various traffic offenses, leading to the arrest of two Chipley women on drug-related charges.
During the stop near Greenhead, as the deputy approached the vehicle, they immediately caught a whiff of marijuana emanating from inside, prompting a further probe into the identities of the occupants, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office's social media post.
Initially, the driver falsely identified herself as Tracy Creel but was later discovered to be Shalene B. Brady, 33, of Chipley, Florida who had several active warrants pending in Bay County; the passenger was correctly identified as Jeana M. Campbell, 47, after verification through a Kentucky driver's license.
With consent, a search was conducted on both the driver and passenger as well as the vehicle during which deputies found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine even as the investigation peeled back the layers of deception, revealing Brady's true identity and criminal warrants.
Brady now faces multiple charges including Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence by Disguised Identity, whereas Campbell was charged with possession of methamphetamine, both were transported to Washington County Jail soon after their arrest.
