After an extensive 18-month renovation costing $265 million, the Cincinnati Convention Center is set for its grand reopening this Wednesday. According to FOX19, local and state dignitaries are gearing up for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to debut the Downtown facility's overhaul. The project has introduced an additional 200,000 square feet of exhibition space and a capacious 40,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, making it one of the Midwest's largest.

Businesses near the convention center, such as the Ohio Book Store, anticipate a boost in visitors and, consequently, sales. Speaking to WCPO, James Fallon Jr. from the bookstore highlighted the importance of the convention center to local commerce, saying, "The convention center brings more people to our business than any other thing in town." The reopening could not come sooner for these local enterprises, which have felt the impact of the center's closure since July 2024.

Cincinnati's skyline isn't the only thing getting a high-tech spotlight. As described by Movers & Makers, the convention center's west side now features a digital LED "Cincinnati" sign, capable of dazzling displays of colors and patterns tied to the city's sports calendar or specific events. Katie Westbrook of 3CDC, responsible for the convention center and district's development, remarked on the blend of tradition and innovation, saying, "This upgraded sign will honor that tradition but take the experience of the sign to another level with its new features and ability for customization."

Adding to the excitement, the adjacent Elm Street Plaza and a forthcoming 700-room Marriott hotel, expected to open in June 2028, promise further revitalization of downtown Cincinnati's landscape. Set to showcase a skywalk connecting the hotel to the convention center, the hotel's construction is poised to bolster Cincinnati's capacity for hosting large-scale events. RedsFest, the first post-renovation event, looks forward to benefiting from the new and improved facilities.
