Cincinnati woke Tuesday to fog, heavy humidity and temperatures around 72 degrees, but the gray start will give way to blazing sunshine. The city is headed for a high near 97, with the afternoon heat index climbing as high as 104.
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Thursday as hot temperatures and humidity raise the risk of heat-related illness. The National Weather Service expects sunny skies and light southwest-to-west winds today, with little chance of rain.
Three Straight Days Near 100
Wednesday will look much like Tuesday, with sunshine, a high near 97 and heat index values again reaching about 104. Thursday stays sunny and hot, also topping out near 97, while overnight lows remain in the low-to-mid 70s and offer limited relief.
Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 73. The warm, humid pattern is expected to linger into Friday, when temperatures may reach 95 and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after 2 p.m.
Weekend Temperatures Finally Back Off
Saturday brings mostly sunny skies, a high near 92 and another slight chance of showers or thunderstorms. Sunday and Labor Day should be noticeably more manageable, with highs near 87 and overnight lows falling into the mid-60s.
Take Heat Precautions
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and check on older neighbors, young children and anyone without reliable air conditioning. The City of Cincinnati says Cincinnati Recreation Commission facilities are available to the public as places to cool off, regardless of membership status.
