The City of Davis is ushering in a new era of financial management, appointing Alberto Preciado as the Finance Director effective February 2. City Manager Daryel Dunston expressed enthusiasm for Preciado's forthcoming contributions, citing his collaborative leadership and technical know-how. "We are thrilled to welcome Alberto to the team," said Dunston, "His collaborative and approachable leadership style, coupled with his deep technical expertise and robust accounting and budgeting experience will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the City's fiscal position," he added, as reported by the official city website.
Preciado comes to the table with over 18 years of government finance experience, previously holding the mantle of Finance & Budget Manager for the City of Citrus Heights. There, his responsibilities encompassed a swath of critical accounting and financial reporting tasks. His expertise not only streamlined operations at Citrus Heights but also included serving on the Board of Directors for the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, CSMFO.
This track record of Preciado's includes experience in various roles with other governmental and water district entities, and it extends beyond just operational efficiency. It involves nurturing a financial infrastructure that supports the city's commitment to delivering top-tier services to its community. "The City strives to deliver high-quality services to the Davis community, and I look forward to working with the team to advance this goal," he told the city's news release.
Preciado is not solely focused on the ledgers and the bottom lines though, his personal pursuits enrich his professional perspective. He has earned degrees from San Diego State University and Washington State University and maintains a passion for cultural exploration. This zest for life includes learning new languages, currently French, traveling, and enjoying the culinary diversity offered by new restaurants with his wife, Julia, and their two children.
