Clark County commissioners authorized an appeal of a federal judge’s decision that temporarily blocked enforcement of the county’s strict short-term rental rules, approving it without discussion during a consent agenda. The preliminary injunction, granted in favor of the Greater Las Vegas Short-Term Rental Association, found the licensing system likely unconstitutional due to due process concerns, according to News 3 LV.

GLVSTRA stated that the county’s rules make short-term rentals difficult due to slow permits and limited availability. The group said the judge’s ruling blocks the county from requiring licenses, collecting fines, declaring rentals a public nuisance, or placing liens and special assessments on properties.

At a recent meeting, short-term rental owners spoke to county commissioners about new regulations. Jacqueline Flores, Founder and President of GLVSTRA, said, "I’m not surprised, of course, how the vote went because this is always the case in the county," and said the group is prepared to continue legal action if needed. Owners called for balanced regulations, noting that many long-term rentals are unregulated. Malee Simpson, who owns five short-term rentals, also emphasized the need for fair rules. Flores added, "We’ll have to wait and see what the court decides," as per 8 News Now
