Clarksville residents are gearing up to actively participate in a public meeting about the city's potential acquisition of The Well, slated for this coming Thursday at Madison Street United Methodist Church. Located at 300 Commerce St., the venue was chosen over The Well to better accommodate an expected larger audience. The dialogue is set to kick off at 6 p.m., as confirmed by an announcement on the City of Clarksville's official website.
During this second public engagement, attendees will work collaboratively at round tables to envision a responsibly and well-managed location. Organizers aim to ensure the focus will remain strictly on discussing location characteristics, rather than converging into a debate on the merits of providing assistance to those in need. Participants are expected to design criteria and conditions they believe to define a 'good location,' directly shaping the future standards and operational requirements for The Well.
The groundwork for the meeting has been laid out with clear expectations for conduct: respectful language, personal testimonies, a ban on personal attacks, and a concentration on conditions, impacts, and solutions. Time limits will be enforced to ensure equal opportunities for contribution. In line with the meeting's rules, guests under the influence of alcohol, or those carrying knives or weapons, will not be permitted entry. The guidelines set for the upcoming discussion on The Well are intended to foster a space where strong opinions can be fairly and productively shared.
